monday link groupThe Monday Link Group is a social group for the over 50s, meeting every Monday afternoon at 2pm in the function room at the
Rose & Crown.

There’s no cost other than paying for drinks.  There are some board and card games but if you prefer you can just chat and enjoy the company.

As well as the weekly meetings, the plan is that a phone link will be formed, to keep in touch with anyone who would either appreciate the regular contact or is possibly vulnerable.  The group will be the focus for this link but it’s likely to include people who don’t come regularly to the sessions.  We’re looking for volunteers to help with this.  We’re also looking for volunteers to help with the weekly sessions to ensure it can continue into the future.

The Rose & Crown is in Market Street, the A379, a little east from the centre of Yealmpton, with plenty of parking and with bus stops just a very short walk away.  The Ivybridge & District Community Transport Association covers the Yealmpton area so for anyone with difficulty getting to the group transport is available door-to-door for 60p per mile, call them on 01752 690444.  The function room of the Rose & Crown is a very attractive and comfortable space in a separate building on the right of the driveway.

The group has been started by Time for Life which is a free service for the over 50s throughout Devon.  One aspect of Time for Life is to help with setting up groups and activities, the other part is a one-to-one mentor service for those who have become socially isolated, possibly through a change in their life circumstances.
Time for Life is funded by Devon County Council and provided by a consortium of Westbank, Upstream, Age UK Devon and Age Uk Exeter.  For general information on Time for Life call 0845 304 7267 or visit www.timeforlife.org.uk.
